#AskSwell What is your Swell strategy?

article image placeholderUploaded by @DearAuntyAng
But I also have people waiting on my Swells that I feel that I need to prioritize and reply to them first, right? So I think if I post one day, kind of do some replies back and forth, and then leave the next day to either greet people with their new swells or just kind of reach out to some of the people in my circle and even new people. I think that's the best strategy for me, so that I'm actively being an active voice on other people's

This App is exciting, and I look to make the most of it.

I also try to every time I post something, I try to invite people that says that they're new to the station. And I try to pick a few people that have recently been active on the stations that are in my Swell so that my community can grow. I'm not really concerned about the number of followers that I have or the people that I'm following. I'm concerned about the content that they post

Hello, Ange. It seems as though a couple of times a year I get a chance to talk about my strategy on Swell. I used to do it a lot back in the day, but I've kind of stopped it, became addictive. But let's just talk about my strategy. It has changed over time, but my strategy consistently always has comprised of me making content to generate conversation. That's always been the main goal

But yeah, it's not like I need all these followers for some reason. It doesn't convert to any kind of dollars or anything. So it's just for engagement and conversation in which a smaller circle may be best here. I'm not sure. But thanks for chiming in and giving your feedback, as always

But I am curious how long you've been on Swell just to get an idea of how active people have been up here before I stepped on the scene. But thank you. Fried oreo. Your contributions are great. Your conversations are great. I will say they definitely lead to conversation and make you think and things like that. And so, yeah, I'm still trying to figure that one out, too

I believe I've been on the app for about three years, give or take, and I was recommended by a person who knew of me from an app that used to be like Swell. Now people know it as Spotify podcast. At one point it was called Anchor, and it was app that billed itself as Twitter with audio and radio for the people. It Allah slogans over time. But anyway, I formed a connection with this person from that app

Strategy?

I tried to respond and just not necessarily build a following, but I just want to feel heard and know that there's other weird people out there. I feel like sometimes I'm an island because I am too out there for people. There's no strategy. For me, it's pretty much just saying what I have to say and for me to be me. So my strategy is no strategy. If there is a strategy, it's like, how are you a player?

If they've never done this type of if they've never done this type of medium before, then it's a learning experience. But some people treat these five minutes like they're on a phone call with a friend. And I find myself going, okay, ma'am, what is your essential point? Sir, what is your central point? Where are we going with this?

@FryedOreo

I never really checked my listeners. Most people that listened were family and Facebook friends that I shared the link with, so I never built any kind of community on Anchor, that's for sure. So it's interesting that you said that, but obviously your personality clearly lends itself to building community and things like that, so you're definitely walking in something that you're I guess it's part of your gifting and your calling, if you will. So that makes sense

If I'm trying to get emails and build my email list for business purposes, I don't see where Swell lends itself to that. And even if it does, I'm not interested. Right? I think really Facebook for me, second to IG maybe third clubhouse has been ways to market it. Of course, email Swell, I haven't even thought about it for those purposes. So it's definitely on the more fun side for me

So yeah, getting right to the point is definitely going to definite strategy, as well as not saying getting to the point and grabbing attention. So that's why I think a really good title and description helps. I had titles in some of my swells, but not a description. But the title doesn't fully show on the screen all the time, at least not on my phone. So the description is that second piece that people can kind of see what it is you're talking about

Hey, SIS. You are so right about the quality of the Swell cast because I talk directly into my iPhone, but I'm doing most of my Swells from my office at home and I'm sitting next to a window. So on my Swells you can hear birds chirping in the background

And I think that says a lot because who wants to just use their learn? People want to see, they want to they want to communicate, you know, not this way, you know, basically swell, you you put your voice, you record your voice and you post it and and that's how it how it operates. You know, you don't you don't really put no, you could put one picture up, but you don't put a bunch of pictures up

I don't want to hit it hard at first, if you will, and then it die down. So let me take it in small bites. But I do believe, like you said, there is I can't remember the word you used, I want to use pressure, but I don't want to say that. But to respond to people because they don't have to. They don't have to come on your swell, they definitely don't have to leave a reply

And it just felt like you couldn't really engage. All you did was sit around listening to other people and that's like a podcast. But one of the things about our podcast that we wanted to do in both capacities was have engagement with the listeners

I needed to hear this today. So, yeah, if you have something, just post it. Somebody wants to hear or needs to hear it, right? What else I was going to say oh, you're a Gemini. So when is your birthday? Because my birthday is June 5 and already established a couple of other swell people who are June I'm fifth, someone's June 6 and someone's June 7, right. So please, are you like the fourth or the 8th?

It just becomes harder to be individualized when you got to share it with every father in the world. Okay? Including my own. Okay, so that's it. I just realized I did not hear this. So I said on another swell where you mentioned it's your birthday next week. Happy birthday, and all that other stuff, not realizing that you had already asked about mine. So there you go, Ange. So, yeah, we'll be celebrating this month. June, Gemini
