The Culture of Giving : How Can Your Dollar Change The World

article image placeholderUploaded by @DBPardes
She has the audacity to have this podcast because her whole life has been spent working with nonprofits to help them manage their messaging, help them manage their teams. So she knows she's like the queen of philanthropy. And I'm so excited that she's here with us. She's already a swell caster. So this is a really organic conversation to have with her because she's already on the platform

We end up giving so much money to charity, millions and millions of dollars to charity, and it just kind of shows the power of what these small gifts can do. So it's a really cool platform, and I think in terms of sort of trends, it's always been that those that are closest to the need tend to give more of a percentage of their wealth than those that are farther from the need

And there are organizations now being fed into the media so people can find out about these organizations. And I'm going to find out what those are, and I want to support them to get behind what the EPA is doing. There's a lot of money coming from the EPA to support these action agendas, but I want to know which ones are things that I want to just give my money to and learn about

Ann it just fills my heart and brings tears to my eyes that they do make the sacrifices for the organizations that they truly believe in. That's my two cent on giving. And again, this is Carrie, and I'm a volunteer. Holic. So have a great day

Ann I think to stretch a dollar out the way we do on days when we actually do give that dollar is one form, but the other form is to give our time, which is so amazing. And some of the videos that make me most emotional that are viral out there are the ones about kindness when you see two human beings being so awesome

But I do need a paycheck, so I must go to work. And I've always tried to find work that also generated some of that purposeful type meaning. It definitely makes earning that paycheck a little bit easier as well. So good luck diving into how to give and where to give and what encourages people to donate money to organization. And this giving Thursday conversation continues to be just wonderful and I'm glad to be a part of it

Hi, thanks for this conversation. I have been thinking about this since there is so much to give to right now in our world. I have been lately working on giving to my local community. So I wanted to share the connected chef. That's an organization that I will be donating to

But there are some people that are in desperate need of stuff and it's being gobbled up by the ones who just want to take advantage of the system. Or when you're volunteering, you don't have the people that are giving out food or parents, they want to police it. So I think you kind of like have to have a sense of humility when it comes to humanity, right?

Explicit reading approach for successfully teaching children to read to the forefront. To be shared with parents. Teachers. Librarians. Other literacy professionals. Literacy advocates. And community stakeholders. So the precious gift of reading can expansively continue to be gifted to children and others needing to be gifted the gift of reading literacy wherever they may be found in order to combat illiteracy

So in my thinking, how can I grow a reader if they cannot read? I wrote a book called Pardes for reading books. It is a different kind of ABC book merging learning to Read with Learning to Love Books. Plus I'm working on currently. A book to accompany Ari is for reading books. Ari is for reading books. Coloring an activity book

What a wonderful way of giving back. So that is absolutely amazing. I just applaud you for the work you're doing. One of the ways that I think that I've been thinking about this channel is raising the profile of the organizations that are doing work in this good application. So raising your visibility is one of the first ways to raise more funds. So that's the first thing to do is to continue to talk about it, to continue to talk about your work

Hey, novelist. I just wanted to thank you for helping us see the combination of this culture and how you've kind of woven into your life a consciousness of being a giver, a volunteer, someone who reads, represents your community, being available for any advocacy work, but also to make sure you're taking care of yourself. Ann by doing so, you're advocating the idea that everyone who has differently abled situations needs, like superfans, to understand their needs

Even just a dollar, if a bunch of people Carey giving me a dollar, that's a bunch of dollars. And I really like to use that method for a lot of different things. Like, for example, people are like, oh, no one uses reusable straws. It won't make a difference. If I'm buying plastic straws, one person doesn't make a difference

So sometimes just lending an ear to someone who just needs to vent or needs someone to talk to because maybe they're thinking about maybe taking their life or in a state of deep depression or a mother having a hard time raising children or a broken marriage or so much, or someone dealing with the symptoms of covet or family loss or whatever. But sometimes just lending that ear or a shoulder to cry on or a hug is just as important as a dollar

Hey, Jay, great to hear your voice here again. And I just feel so clear when stories like yours emerge, when you talk about noticing, thinking, stopping, going back, talking. You know, these are the the steps we have to take and not be so rushed. Because your kind face and words to that young woman probably had such a ripple effect on her

Hello. I've been listening to some of the audio on this call. Ann, very interesting conversation. Now I like to say that I am a donator. I donate to FICO. And so I do contribute. I do want to know to fix the homeless here in the United States or in the world, period, all around the world. Do you think we world have to adapt a socialist society where we can somehow share where we could share wealth and resources?
