How do you protect your children from your own stress?

article image placeholderUploaded by @DBPardes
We want them to grow up in a way that they don't feel all the weight that we do have to feel as adults. So how do you protect your children from your own stress? Bye

Because at the end of the day, your kids, children, they pay attention and they're very impressable. So you just have to be careful on how you handle situations and it's hard. Like I said, I'm not perfect. And one, you got to have a great support system too. So hopefully I answered that the best way I can

Music. So dealing with stress is a very everyday matter for me, probably all parents at this point in life. The craziness that goes on in the world aside from our own craziness that's always been there. Yeah, that's a tough one because there is a line between living by example and showing our kids how life is and how we deal with it versus protecting them too much. So obviously, when my kids were younger, I definitely tried to predict them more from stresses of life

We don't want their mindset to be older than their age, to sit there and stress and worry about what it is that's going on around them. Yes, as parents, we are to enlighten them about how to be careful when they're out about at school or playing outside or whatever the case might be. We need to be able to tell them what to do and what not to do

So I just think it's fascinating and encouraging and so meaningful to hear each of you discuss sort of how your mind is wrapping around this as you speak. I think we're in times that require a constant grooming of what's blasting in the house and what's not in terms of TVs and radios and obviously our devices, but to keep something sacred and whole is sort of an extreme act of love. Something. Thank you all for participating and look forward to more voices

But sometimes I drift. Maybe we're watching TV, and I start drifting thousand yards there, and I know my son will look at me and he sees the change in my face. Hey, dad, are you okay? Are you happy? That's what he asked me. Are you happy? Yeah, buddy, I'm always happy. I'm just focused. Sometimes Daddy gets sad or mad, but I'm happy right now. I'm just focused

I think kind of being on each other's team is really important and not having them hold you accountable, but saying that I'm a human too, just like you are, and I have a hard day sometimes, just like you do. And you can remind me to do better, just like I'm going to remind you because that's my job as your parent. Anyway

He knows, right by 830, he's like, okay, Mom, I know you're in your chill space and not trying to interrupt, but I have this question. He knows he can come to me at any time and that he's always first priority, but he also knows that I am also, as a person, a priority. And I love that dynamic about our relationship

Wow. Big theme of honesty, and specifically a reinforcement where there's a tenderness of vulnerability, but in the same breath, there's an insurance. Don't worry. I got you. But Mommy's this way, or Daddy's this way. It's that parallel track of being real, but having an insurance that's right at the tip of your tongue

You don't talk to people the way that you talk to me and the way you say things, and I shouldn't have said that to you that way. We have to respect and he listens. He may not fully understand everything, but he knows that I still love him. And just because that happens doesn't mean the love and the compassion and the protection and all that isn't there. And I told him, I'm just tired, and you said some things you shouldn't
