How Do You Host? One person or many!

article image placeholderLet’s Eat!
I was thinking about hosting and how we invite people over to our homes for tea sometimes or for a whole meal or for a big event and those different kinds of experiences and how we approach them. Last night, I had a gathering to celebrate the miracle of Hanukkah and also just to kind of shake a little cobwebs out of my house and get some good energy in there

YOLO

Of course there is always the dishes, but I have a dishwasher, so it's not that big a hassle period. Of course, Covet makes everything a hassle period. I can't have a dinner party outside. Period. Oh, my God. I'm saying period after everything I say because I'm so used to talking into my microphone and sending messages to people and using proper punctuation and grammar. My apologies. This is the second time I've done this

Total people will arrive. Oh, no. Food is a big thing. Food is a big thing. A suitable chocolate cake is needed. Egg sandwiches are needed. Other sandwiches are optional, the different kind of sandwiches. And there'll be nibbles beforehand. There'll be gin, several gins available. There'll be white wine. And don't imagine people will drink red wine and there will be beer

There have been, let's say, three people in the house, other ones outside in the Pardes. That's a different issue altogether. But there have been some really, some small groups, maximum four people more likely to be three. And they've been of different types all together. Okay. Big topic. Would love to have a long chat about this because I've got all sorts of memories. I used to be a very big dinner party host guy. That's another story

You know, both these answers so far, really put a smile on my face because there's something so specific. I love the details. I love the idea of thinking about something and becoming a little thing your head and then kind of working towards it. The details of the soup and of the egg sandwiches. And I think it's really nice to know that one other person sipping gin is an event, and it's someone you want to host and keeping sort of a ceremony around it

And by the time you get away from the table, you can't move because you've just eaten so much. So I actually enjoy the fact that I don't have to do that anymore. But at the same time, I kind of miss it and would like to have some of my friends from work over and make them some really nice, like Mongolian beef or some kind of stir fries, something light, something heavy, some salad soups. I would like to do it

Grateful for the get togethers

But of late, I have been sort of outsourcing a major part of the food because I feel I'd rather conserve my energy to focus on the conversations and reconnecting with friends given the long interval due to covet. And however, after these get togethers, we just love the sort of energy shift that happens in our house. It's just fabulous and we are happy that we are able to welcome our friends into our home again. Thanks for the swell. Couldn't have come at a better time

@LadyO

Hello. I just woken up and listened to why you can't have drinks alcohol in the house. And I'm just wondering, is it that it would have a bad effect on your children if they saw adults drinking? Or is it that your friends who drinker would lose self control altogether? And that be may I mean the house. I can't quite remember exactly why you think it's not a good thing to have people drinking wine in the house if your children are in the house

And it alters our ability to think in the right way. It alters your ability to be mindful of things around you. And so that's why it's not good to drink. But anything in excess is not good for you. Eating too much is not good for you. Everything in excess is not good for you. So that was the lesson I had to teach them

What a wonderful spread that is. If I'm ever doing a party, I hope mine looks as nice as this
