How fast should we lose weight? The science and the sense of it all…

And do you come from the place where you believe that every human body has an optimum weight and our goal is to just keep it at that weight? Or are you flexible in terms of what different body types can handle? What kinds of weight? What's the marker for you? Or what are the markers for you where you say, okay, this person's walked into my office and I've got to get them on a diet. Can you talk a little bit about that first?

But one thing to bear in mind is also about what's normal for the person in front of you and why and how are they proof? Dressing BMI is a tool that we have extensive research evidence on, and the science community is working on adapting these tools to fit most people. And specifically now they're working on different BMI ranges for different ethnicity or different age and predict their health outcome from there, the

If you have a BMI of X, you have to lose X, no matter if you're 20 or 60. How do you factor in age and metabolism when you recommend BMI goals for people?

You? Great question. Now, BMI of 25 and 30 are usually the magic numbers that everyone use. If an average healthy person has a BMI over 25, it is associated with higher risk of getting chronic diseases like diabetes or stroke or heart attack. And some one with a BMI over 30, they are at even higher risk of getting these chronic health problems. Losing five to 10% of that weight would be good for their health and it reduce this risk for their heart and vessels problems

That's so interesting about as we age, our body needs different things. But I wanted to ask your opinion. And I know this is going to be an opinion because I think there's so many schools of thought on this, but when weight is life threatening and people have tried things and they realize they just can't get over that edge of the amount of fat on their body. There's all these kind of approaches that are more surgical. Liposuction is an old term, I think
