Got Ink? 32% of America does as tattoos go mainstream

article image placeholder32% of Americans have a tattoo, including 22% who have more than one
I have seen both male and female commentators sporting tattoos on their arms and hands. Now, even though there is no policy in place for these tattoos to be covered up, they're still a topic of conversation on social media. I've seen people talk about the tattoos. Some people don't like the tattoos on certain people that are commentating. But it does seem that we are in a much more mainstream policy here with regards to tattoos these days

Have you ever been asked to cover up your ink? https://s.swell.life/STnJgfsJFkRoQEc

I've seen so many bad tattoos, as you can imagine, working at a shop. People come in wanting things covered up all the time. Some of it is really bad. I feel like if you take the time to really get what you want, especially for those first few tattoos, they tend to leave a nice impression on people. To the point of your comment about honoring people. The first few tattoos I had were honoring members of my family, those that had passed on

Hello there. Very interesting topic. I definitely have seen a lot of people more and more getting tattoos. It is just well, at least for me, it just seems like a very normal thing nowadays. I understand that maybe it wasn't the case always, and a few decades ago, maybe even some years ago, it was kind of taboo to have these kind of tattoos, especially with the larger ones, because there are several kinds of them

You. Hey, man. Yeah, I totally agree with you. I didn't actually get my first tattoo till I was, like 21, I believe. And it's on my back. It's between my shoulder blades. It was just a cool design. It's like a space tribal face made out of squares and rectangles. I kind of looked at it like, you would have to look at me twice. Don't judge me because I don't want people to prejudge me

You. I like this topic. I think anybody can kind of relate to it. Yeah, tattoos are becoming a lot more mainstream. And I even remember in the early 2000s when I was working in retail, people that had showing tattoos had to either wear long sleeve shirts or cover up the tattoo in some way. Me like. Now people are in all different types of industries with tattoos showing. And I have three

So I would guess the younger you are, the more this is a nothing burger to you. Like, I'm not even that young at this point, but I people have tattoos all over the place. I'm actually surprised 30% to 35%. That that seems almost low to me because, like, I know when I have brought my son to daycare or play events or whatever, it seems like almost all the Mom Moms or a lot of the Moms or soccer

But, man, I tell you what, some of them NBA players, they are covered. I'm like, what you going to look, Mike, when you 70, but kind of like a green Glob. You got to make sure you stay heavy to keep that skin fluffed out or something. But, yeah, it's mainstream now. Mainstream

Hey, Jordan, thanks for the reply. Yeah, I mean, you bring up a great point about Inkmaster. I mean, it's one of those reality shows that has been on for a very, very long time. And there have been a lot of shows that have a similar structure that are in different mediums and they haven't lasted half as long as that show has. And I think know, like you said, it speaks to the changing ideas that people have about tattoos

They look like working people. They look like more conservative people. They look like business people. They aren't the underground kids attending a punk concert or rap show anymore. It's evolved, and I don't know how I necessarily feel about it. I'm weird with certain cultural things like that. I think it's great that they're accepted, but I also think a part of it has become now everyone has one. I guess we all get them for different reasons
