Election 2020: Update and Discussion Thread

article image placeholderLive: Election Day 2020 Updates On NBC News NOW - November 3rd
Will President Donald Trump remain in the White House for another term, or will former Vice President Joe Biden become the next leader of the United States? I will be covering the events of the evening here on Swell and we'll be providing pertinent updates to keep everyone here up to speed. One thing we should be incredibly clear about is that the election results you see on TV are projections. It takes time to officially declare a winner. It won't be tonight, officially

Exit poll clarification

One thing that I think should be made a bit clearer here is that various media outlets are reporting on the exit poll numbers. And we need to keep in mind that this year is very, very different from previous elections. We've had on almost 100 million people vote early already, and those people are not being included in these exit polls. So I just want that to be known

Projection: Biden to win Vermont

Cnn has projected that Joe Biden has secured the state of Vermont. Not a surprise when you consider who the Senator has been since 2007. Bernie Sanders

NBC projections

As I said earlier, you have to take projections from mainstream media outlets with a grain of salt. But NBC News right now is reporting that Biden has won Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Vermont, Mont. And Washington, DC. It's still very early. But this is a projection from NBC news

Hey, everybody. I wanted to read some projections from Politico. Com. It is currently 551 Pacific Standard Time, and they have Biden leading the Presidency at 88 electoral votes to 72. Two, they have the Democrats leading the Senate at 42 to 35, and they have Republicans leading the House at 36 to 32. We'll update you as the evening progresses

Early numbers in Pennsylvania and Ohio are interesting...

A couple interesting things I wanted to point out. So right now, Ohio has roughly 59% of the vote in and they have Biden winning by about 6% of the vote. Pennsylvania has about 10% of the vote in and has have Biden up by a whopping. What is this, 43%. These are both States that Trump definitely has to win if he wants to secure reelection, not something that is indicating a very positive end to the night for him

Trump to take Arkansas and Biden to take New Jersey

With about 32% of the vote counted in Arkansas, it's looking like President Trump has secured the electoral votes for that state. And with 33% of the expected vote totaled in in New Jersey, it's looking like Biden is going to secure that state. And it's 14 electoral votes again, early. But it's looking very likely that's

It is looking now like President Trump will secure victory in Florida, and Pennsylvania has also flipped to his favor. So a lot will unfold over the next several hours, although it looks like Pennsylvania will not be be continuing to count the early votes this evening. So again, we might have to wait until tomorrow for the rest of those

Lindsey Graham

And now Fox News has called the Senate race for South Carolina in favor of Lindsey Graham

WI, MI, and PA...

Okay. So it is 915 Pacific Standard Time, and Fox News has the election at 227 for Joe Biden and 210 for Donald Trump. It is looking as though the the election will come down to Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania, as it seems, as though President Trump will win Georgia as well as North Carolina, although it is very, very close. So Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania looks like are going to be the three big ones

It looks as though there may be a potential shift in Georgia. Things are looking iffy in North Carolina, so a lot can happen in the next couple of days. There's a lot to watch, so stay posted

AZ NV MI and WI

I am still watching Georgia, as well as that's interesting in the Senate race is in Georgia, although one of them is already going to be a runoff. But Pennsylvania may be irrelevant here if those four States hold true

Off shore betting lines

And what I mean by that is either it was not meaningful, meaning the pools were so small that it really doesn't matter. It'd be like six or seven of you betting against each other in your living room. You'll see wild line movements, but that's only because six or seven you are betting $20 and somebody comes in and says, hey, I want to bet $100. Well, then that line is going to move greatly

So looks like Arizona and Wisconsin have turned blue. So we are waiting on Nevada and Michigan, although they are currently blue leaning by a small margin, but they're still blue leaning. So we've got two most States. And as my husband says, The Fat Lady hasn't sung yet, so still holding on
