Sports: NBA Playoffs - What’s going on?

article image placeholderSource: NBA players decide to resume playoffs
I think that last night's announcement that the games were postponed was a huge power play on the part of the NBA teams. Quite frankly, I've never seen something like that go down in sports in my lifetime. I'm curious if anybody here could recall a moment like this happening in the past, across any sport. I think that we're living in a truly unprecedented moment of history right now, and I'm anxious to see how the players and the NBA respond to this

You know, Taylor, from a historical perspective, yes. I think this is pretty unique. There have been boycotts. However, I can think of boycott from a safety perspective where football players didn't think the field was safe to play on that's out of their own safety. And then I remember there's been a lot of boycotts at the country level in the Olympics, the first one being 1936. A lot of European countries boycotted the 1936 Olympics held in Berlin

Phil, you bring up something very important, and it reminds me of a quote I recently read. I'm not entirely sure who it is from, so it's obviously not for me, but it was something to the effect of sports are rewarded for a functional society. And I just want to put that quote out into the air here on this swell and see if that resonates with anybody
