Comics & Education Part 2 - Magneto was MY professor!

article image placeholderUploaded by @ComicbookConvos
So I'm going to be very transparent here and confess that I did believe that comic books were fluff in the beginning no. Before meeting my husband. And I remember my brother would collect them, and I just didn't really think much about them. I didn't think highly of them. However, I remember one time having a conversation with my husband, and somehow the topic of history came up, or I think it was about the Holocaust

How a storyline about Magneto’s origin taught me about the holocaust.

Hi. My name is Brooke. Hopefully I can record this in one go. I am a writer, not a talker talker. So I'll just flow and let it go and not try to rhyme either. But I appreciate this topic and I clicked on it because I kind of relate to your wife Erica, I think, and that my brother was a comic book fan. And then I picked it up secondhand pretty early on

Thanks a bunch! I hope i remember all the excellent points you made. Short term memory isnt what it used to be lol.

But, yeah, Marvel has always been on that cutting edge, I guess, right? Pioneers in that they were the first ones to have an African American african American superhero, first ones to have a Puerto Rican well, I don't know if they were the first ones, but it was in 75 when they they brought a Puerto Rican superhero in. And then when you want to talk about the mutants, the X Men in particular, I find it really interesting

Anne Frank

Okay, so I just remembered the Anne Frank comment you made. You said that you guys read Anne Frank. I read it, too. I can't remember. It was probably in high school, and I went to a parochial Catholic high school, which traditionally is supposed to have a better education. But I really you know, I didn't overapply myself. I got by. But anyway, that's not what I wanted to mention, and frank so, yeah, I read the story
