Work is work! How can you do work that feeds your soul, career goals and makes an impact?

Because after you start to look at the bigger picture of the impact you'd like to make change that you'd like to see, then you could start drawing some straight lines, if you will, to, okay, where am I today? What skills do I have? What experience do I have? What could I bring into a situation if I wanted to think about my career as a ladder or a path that has stepping stones? Either one

But there's a long tail game here, which I think you're really asking us to participate in, which is know what feeds your soul, know what you're doing now and sort of break into some kind of new parallel path. Where you start plotting and planning for that move, where you can jump into the next track and it won't be a huge disruption because you've really laid out the groundwork. You've done theo informational. Excuse me, the informational. Interviews with tons of people

And I've always loved NPR and other storytelling, and it's just there's something and especially a lot of time in the military, I've listened to a lot of stuff like Paul Hervey and things like that, and it really just it's really how it's really amazing how voices can just kind of reach out to you. And this is something I'd love to do as a career. I don't know if I'm built for that, honestly

You. Thanks for asking. I will tell you guys about a horrible moment where I had to sell my TV to pay my rent, so so, like many of you, I did not purposefully start this career. In fact, sometimes when people ask me about my consulting business and my coaching business, which has now been 27 years, which makes me feel old to say I was very not on purpose in the beginning of that. And here I am helping people every day and very intentionally in ways

And it's not when you're with your people. And you all have the energy to do something great and potentially support other people who, you know are coming into civilian life and the job market and theo are going to have the same they have to go through the same process you did. And so there's something there where you could help other people and yourself at the same time. And again, forgive me if you've already thought this or someone has said it to you

And I had one of those AHA moments too, that morning, headed to work where she spent so much time in the military. My mother had passed before his diagnosis and then he passed about maybe a year and a half after

I mean, the music that he's produced, that he's put out, that he's made, it's stunning, if you Google him. And I mean, hit after hit after hit in different genres of music, it's just crazy. And the guy had no real musical training. He had none of those things. He's like, look, I do what I like. I know what I like. And that goes along with what you're saying, right?

And what finally gelled helped things gel for me by way of my path and my career, was to look at the everyday things that brought me some measure of satisfaction. And it was in the 90,000 things that I did in a day at a job that I did not enjoy or feel fulfilled in. There were moments where I was like, oh, I'm enjoying writing this email to a bunch of people

Christine, I just want to pop in to thank you for your storytelling above. These other comments replying to my question. I just really appreciate that I related to it so much, and I don't think your mom and dad would have problems with you because this is just part of our journey. Thank you so much

Deborah, you don't know my mom and dad. Oh, my goodness. Everybody. If they only used swell and they could but look, it's important. I wish more people would join this and tell their stories. And what I love about this platform, frankly, as I start to explore what people are saying, there is a lot of storytelling. And, frankly, that's where we're actually going to learn and make real change

Not just the way we feel about our so called job, whether we're on and I think you were talking about it like sometimes you got maybe too big picture, like you were going looking for something grand. And to anybody listening to this grand, big things are built by the things we do in every moment. So if you are muscling through each day, exhausted at night, feeling like when you wake up in the morning, you're like, oh s***, really?

It pays really good. Me and my husband work from home. This job is also challenging enough to where I feel like I'm working for my dollars. And also there's room for advancement in any position that you desire. My number one desire in life, of course, my number one career is writing, so that's always been number one

And by God's grace, I did get to learn a lot in my corporate journey that I will never deny. But I was never at peace doing what I was doing because I knew deep down in my heart I wasn't destined to do a desk job. So, yes, I did work as a data assurance and quality analyst. And in that span of six years, I got multiple promotions because there was one thing that always stood by me
