Business & social problems - can the way forward be a synergy between the two?

As a followup to the earlier swell on the changemakers well cast regarding social innovation, social enterprise, and social entrepreneurship. Here is a TEDx talk given by Michael Porter, business strategist and business School Professor Way back in 2013 on the case for letting business solve social problems. In this video, Michael emphasizes on why profits could help sustainable solutions grow, make them infinitely scalable, and create shared value. Would love to hear your thoughts on this perspective

Social good matters to consumers

And I am much more willing to pay a little bit more money for less or for a better product for a company that is trying to solve a social problem as well as provide me with a great product or experience. So I feel really excited about the potential here, and I hope it continues to grow

But on the other hand, they're making a move to switch to electric vehicles, and they're looking at transit in the sky and how that can become more environmentally friendly from a fuel perspective. So I see there on both sides, but again, the most important point, I think, is that Amazon is the example of how the small companies can compete, as are many of the companies that people say they're big now it's like, yeah, but they weren't
