Purposeful Leadership: Lara Bezerra Founder, Work Coherence in conversation.

Authentic holistic. Purposeful leadership is the need of the moment with coherence to oneself, both in the professional and private lives. I came across this very powerful message on Lara bizarre's website. Right. Lara is a mother and a wife who has held positions as President managing Director in different multinationals across seven countries and three continents for 27 years

Hi Sharia, great pleasure to be with you. I love change makers. Well, I think that this is a very fair question and this is the right question why to segregate and separate work and life? In many eastern cultures we know that work is part of life

Thank you for this illuminating reply, Lara. Finding balance in life, I guess, is the answer, and not work. Life balance. It's beautiful. And the common thread that runs through it all is purpose. So my next next question is why is it critical to understand purpose, both at an individual level or collective level, shall I say organizational level? How will it help?

@Wordsmith the #power of unleashing an #exponentialpotential when an organization is guided by #purpose!

In my coaches, in my mentorships, the thing that I tell leaders to do is sit down with your team, discuss what you contribute to the bigger result of the company result as being how you make a difference in people's lives. If you are able to do this, you will be able to unleash a potential that is infinite. And all of us, we have infinite potential to really make a difference

Lara, I totally resonate with what you said here. My question is, what if? However, you know, when one understands during a course of time that the individual purpose and the collective purpose are not in alignment and there is somewhere a conflict, it could be visually the process itself or the approach, or it's simply that you're part of the system and you simply understand that things are actually not going the way you thought they would

@Wordsmith when there is a conflcit of #purpose, it neans that is potential being wasted! When this happens, we nees to find alignment!

Your vision don't match your purpose. By the end, they don't match. So if this happens, you have to leave. Because you will never ever work at your best and show your best side. If you are doing something that is against your core, and your core is your values, your purpose

Dara. I just love this thought of the individual purpose flowing into the collective and the collective purpose flowing into the individual. I agree that the more driven you are towards your own, you know, larger purpose you have set for yourself, things do have a way of falling into place. And what we need is that confidence to be moving in that direction, to be understood and seen, you know, visibly moving in that direction

@Wordsmith #purpose and profit come habd to hand #power is not in my vocabulary ;) but when egos come we can choose to change gears, always!

So I don't see why people should be so burnt out because of the stress of what would happen in the future and if the values will be kept. So you leave your values, you leave your purpose, you do your best for what you believe the company, the organization is living and you have your choice. If you don't see that what you believe in is lived where you are working, you have the choice to change

Very true. Lara I came across Patagonia sometime last year, and I was really amazed at the way they have gone out, you know, gone about setting the core philosophy, the vision mission for the brand, and how they have against so much of acceptance across the world

@Wordsmith the culture #workcoherence wants to bring to organizations & leaders is based on a purposeful attitude which brings positive impact

On the other side if the leaders are truly, truly, truly focus on the people, but not doing things for the people, deciding for the people, but believing trusting the people and handing over their motivation, their productivity for themselves. So they will be intrinsically motivated because they are grateful for the purpose culture that they are living and the impact that they are having in society

Thank you so much, Lara. These responses have been very, very insightful and I'm hoping that by our work coherence, you are able to bring about that shift in perspective across organizations across the globe. And I also hope and pray that this approach, this concept becomes part of the curriculum at leading management schools across the world. Because as much as we talk about leadership styles and team management skill sets, etc, etc, I think purposeful leadership definitely is at the heart of it all
