So I thought she would be a great fit to chat with for interview a friend week here on swell. Julie, thank you so much for joining us. I would love to start out by just hearing a bit more about your story. How did you start out professionally and how did you end up getting to where you are today, being the CEO of Jesse?

And how do you think, when you're looking for talent or people to fit with others, do you consider at all what the folks you're talking to have learned from failure or rejection? I would love to hear you speak on any of that

Lastly, I'm curious what your hopes and dreams are for the next year. Not only with Jesse, but maybe some of your other interests or hobbies visions, goals. Anything that's currently on your mind and heart, we would love to hear about it here as well. Additionally, anything that could be tied into that is something you are currently obsessed with. A TV show, a recipe, a creative idea, anything

Thanks, bowie, for asking. I actually started out with a degree in computer science, in part because I like numbers and logic. But I found in my career, I kept getting pulled out for people projects, and that said something to me. And I navigated into communication and training, and I then myself got recruited out to my first sales role, which was a great fit for me with a great team, and I had a lot of fun at it

I love that question. I don't think I've been asked it before. One of the most important competencies for our candidates to have is oftentimes resiliency. We have conversations with them not only about their accomplishments and their successes, but also to learn where they failed and what they did next. Navigating through a failure by staying positive and growing from it shows a lot about a person and how they'll behave at work, and that's really important to our clients

Each time I reconnect with a client, I remember why I enjoyed working with them and their teams so much. Last year, I also traveled every month, and I spent a lot of time with family and friends. That's something that's really important to me. But this year, I'm working hard not to travel so much. I want my family and friends to come here to tulsa to visit. I've had a lot of family out so far, and they love it

@jessisearch thank you!

Even if someone maybe doesn't have a very specific or developed skill set, say with a certain kind of technical platform or something like that, that often is less meaningful to me than how if they seem to have the ability to learn quickly and to bounce back quickly from setbacks. And so I found it really validating and interesting to hear that as someone like you who is so deeply embedded in talent acquisition that it's something that is super important in what you look for as well. Really interesting stuff
