Not while I'm driving, not while I'm walking or running, but so I can really listen to it and get lost in it. But it also requires a lot of patience and a lot of slowing down to give myself that space. So is this the thing you do too? Which record is it? I really want to know

The one I'm choosing to say is the last time I did it was late March, when the metal core American band, the American Metal Corps band August Burns Red, released their latest album, Death Below. It is very heavy. Very heavy. Well, I mean, I say that, and lots of metalheads would frown and, like, scoff at me, but for the general public, it's quite heavy, and I adored it

I have the evidence to prove it. And the reason why I say that is because I drive Uber. I have picked up people from different racial backgrounds, cultural backgrounds, religious backgrounds, socioeconomic level, education levels, and they all are in the backseat jamming to Lauren Hill. Majority of them, I want to say a good if I had to give a percentage, a good 85% of them have heard and know the album personally, and then the remainder might not have heard of it

And the one you know what, I'm not going to give you a complete summary. Just look them up and listen to them. Listen to a bunch of their songs from across the albums. You're going to be, I think, quite happy. They're very good

Thank you so much for this response. Do not worry, I am not a big metal buff. So you weren't just telling me things I already know. I do like a lot of punk music and some heavier music for sure, with some metal influence, I'd say, but definitely do not know a ton about metal. So it was really interesting to hear about your experience with this and it reminded me of all the different ways we can listen to music and experience it

I gifted to friends and I'm not going to lie, I miss them and I'm probably going to replace them now that I have a home again and a record player again. And it's kind of fun to be rebuilding my collection again and seeing, like, what it is I still really like and miss and want to replace and a lot of the ways in which my tastes and interests have grown and changed

Oh, my gosh. Thank you so much for bringing this record into this space in this conversation. I 100% agree with you. It has only gotten better with age, I swear. I actually was just talking to a friend last night about Lauren Hill, and specifically when she was in Sister Act Two, which was one of my very favorite movies growing up up

And that felt like such a gift to have these periods where I had to be in the car and could just listen to records back to back and really focus on them. I really think it's healing in a lot of ways, to be totally honest. So thank you so much for sharing that
