I actually have not watched them in a couple of years, even though I have kept up with a lot of media surrounding them. I most likely will not be watching them this year either. The award shows just don't hold the same appeal to me as they did when I was a kid. I am constantly curious to keep following the independent filmmakers. I like to discover old cinema, to watch things that are adapted from books I love

I'm not going to be in the know of the it shows in movies that are accessible on TV. Before making this decision, I said, okay, because let me tell you, that cell phone, not cell phone bill. The cable bill was ridiculous. I didn't take it lightly. And what I did was, a year prior, I assessed how frequently I watched TV and the turnaround time from when either a new series or a return of a series happened

Disney, Hulu, Voodoo, HBO, Netflix, Peacock, that point of, oh, you are waiting for one movie from a certain director or a certain actor or a certain movie based on a book that has lost its charm completely because we are now bombarded with so much content that is available on our fingertips. I can watch a movie on my cell phone, on an app installed on my iPhone, and I can watch it on an iPad. I can watch it on a flight

When I watch movies or shows now and there's some sort of celebrity or well known actor, I don't really see them as a celebrity in the same way. I see them as another artist trying to keep being able to perform and perfect their craft. It's like a much more grounded feeling. Whereas when I was a kid, these award shows and the movies just felt like this other spectacular world

I used to run home and break my neck just to watch the Oscars and to see what these nominations are going to be. And on the two full scale, I'll be disappointed because it just wasn't giving, as we say. And then on the other side, it just omitted and overlooked certain movies, certain populations, certain contributions, and it just became less attractive to me. So what is its future? Who knows?

I'm just so drawn to her as an artist and as a human and as a thinker that I will follow her wherever. And I feel like that is what's starting. That's the expectation. I think that's starting to happen when it comes with some of these actors. It's not necessarily about the movies anymore or making it to the big screen primarily, but more about is this person talented enough to carry an audience with them wherever they go?
