Happy 🌏 Day! Let's Talk About the Dark Side of Recycling

article image placeholderIs Recycling Worth It Anymore? The Truth Is Complicated.
And though the choices I make as just one individual is definitely not going to solve this problem, I do feel that it's my personal responsibility to try as best as I can to not over consume and to limit, especially my purchasing of plastics that will be wasted or won't be recycled, because even if I recycle them, they may not be able to be purchased and reused and may end up in a landfill anyways

What do you do when recycling is no longer the answer? https://youtu.be/iBGZtNJAt-M

As far as just stocking the house with the essentials that are a little bit better for the environment than what you might find at your typical grocery store. Although a lot of their brands are now kind of making their way into Department stores and drugstores and whatnot. But thanks for sharing that article and Happy birthday

@MattBarba Girlfriend Collective & United by Blue

There are two companies that I really have fallen in love with in the past couple of years that are clothing brands that are trying to make sustainable wines are Girlfriend Collective, and they create, like athletic and kind of casual clothes for all kinds of people now from recycled water bottles, which is pretty cool. And then also similarly, this company, United by Blue. They have clothing. They have bags. They have all sorts of things that are also, I think primarily plastic saved from the ocean

I'm quite consistently irritated by the just other amount of packaging that stuff comes in. I regularly will be opening something up, and I think to myself, Why did they use so much packaging for this? And from a business perspective, it costs more to have more packaging and more complicated packaging because the labor or machinery used to package involved. I guess there's two aspects that I look at it from personally, I just don't want that much packaging at all

And I hope someday, as I hopefully grow in wealth and can even be more intentional and decisive about the kind of products I buy that I can be more supportive of companies that are doing really innovative and awesome things, even if it's more expensive than a lot of the stuff I was able to afford throughout my 20s and stuff, which was often in my budget, but not very great when it came to supporting some of the initiatives that I'm talking about here when it comes to the environment

Unseen #supplychain #packaging waste in #business #3P

So let's dig into something that consumers never see and a solution that saves money in the supply chain for the buyer and the seller. And I'll give you an example. And this has happened in my multiple companies. I've been with the supplies come in in a box or on a pallet, and you open it up or you unpack it. And there's a ton of unnecessary packaging, and you can't figure out why it's there
