Hey, Swell, it is Rachel on a Wednesday evening where I live in the world right now, after some private Swell conversations with bookish podcasts Nameless Journal, we decided that Swell needs some sort of writing group and consistent way to sort of hold ourselves accountable for those writers out there. And maybe you identify more as an illustrator or a comic or a ceramicist whatever you identify as if you're a creator, these conversations will be for you

What are the new policies that I need to incorporate from? So the writing really took a, like, a little backseat to the point of I just couldn't do it anymore. I stopped. I was working on other things, obviously. You know, I'm an avid reader, and I have a podcast. So that's always one of my top goals, because I don't want to let it slip. And that's one of other things in my life, that's a constant
Hey, Rachel, thank you so much for posting this great swell and inviting me to this. So I'm really looking forward to being here and connecting with fellow writers and creators. And so nice to see Shahnaz here as well. Hey, Shahnaz, this is yet another offshoot of our buddy reads, I guess. And I'm really loving this idea of having a writer's group. And Rachel, to answer your question about writing through a pandemic

It made me think about a teacher I once had who talked about the importance of filling the tank when it comes to writing and how it's not very useful to expect yourself to be writing consistently or, well, when you're totally drained and you need to fill the tank. And definitely one way I fill the tank is through reading and just completely losing myself in stories and analyzing stories because I find it really fun and it makes me happy

Hello, my to be read list is ginormous, like, I have so many books at home I haven't even read yet. I'm sort of a book or whatever. It's so much easier to say, oh, that book looks interesting. I'm going to read it later than to actually take it up and absorb the story. I bet if I had all the books I wanted to read together, it could fill up an entire library. Not even joking

I actually write for a publication and I've had a blog before I write screenplays, that sort of thing. I've never actually considered myself to be a writer

Hey, Rose and Anna, thank you so much for taking the time to join this conversation. It's so wonderful to hear more about each of your processes and and also like history with writing and just creativity in general. And I really related and empathized with a lot of what you were saying

But my thought is a writer is someone who writes, I know we all have our goals and our dreams that we want to get there. And if we don't get there, we don't consider ourselves writers or authors or whatever else you want to call it. But I think a writer is someone who writes someone who's compelled to write. That's pretty much as simple as that as women

So I stopped writing. And I just focused on writing articles, blogs for some things in both language, Arabic and English. But I didn't stop myself from reading because for me, reading just the ability to live everything in life and move to another life with another people. It just give me a life. So I really want to enjoy to join this club. Just I like the idea of seeing ideas from people or forgive me my English

My goals are improving my English. Well, I am good at writing, but when it comes to speaking, I feel a little bit nervous, and even I start to I want to make a YouTube channel because I didn't want to cover my face anymore. And there are a lot of goals. But this is the only thing that I want to focus on them right now. And for me, the ability to achieve goals or the ability that I could knock the doors to achieve my goals

So to keep people engaged and keep them dreaming about travel, I created a podcast. So again, I'm writing for the podcast. Trying to find time is very difficult because you're being pulled from all different directions. I have a full time day job, and I have two or three other businesses I'm doing on the side. So it really takes my time. So I need to find that time, right? So someone can keep me focused into a calendar or schedule
