What's the last classic πŸ“– you read?

article image placeholderclassics
This weekend, I finally had a chance to finish reading a classic book that I've wanted to read now for a decade. And if you follow my bookstagram at Tidying the shelf here on Swell and also on Instagram, you'll hear more about the story behind this book. But it made me wonder what the last classic book is that you read

Other than that, there's not too many that I get too excited about, but I haven't tried reading a lot of classics in my adult reading life. It was mostly left other from school. So yeah, I'm always ready to try some more

Orlando is next for me!

Hey Laurie, this just made me so happy because I love talking about classics and I love that you're doing a buddy read with someone going through them. Also, I smiled so much when you mentioned the picture of Dorian Gray because I had haven't thought of that book in so long. And I do think actually it's a book that I ended up reading twice

So we thought, hey, let's tackle it together similarly to Doreen Gray, I am listening to it on audio, and I'm actually not loving the audio of it at all. The author reads it, which typically I love, but in this case I love her writing don't like her narration, so I do have the physical book too

Yes! I have read classics this year!!!

It's just this thing. It's like, oh my gosh, I want to do that. And I want to do that. I wish I could just plug my brain in before I go to bed and wake up with like, four books. That would be nice. Alright guys, I will catch you all later. Bye

@loribpalmer Tartt & Woolf!

Like I get something new from it every time I read it, and it has really stuck with me over the years. So I'd say, Mrs. Dalloway, and then I loved finally reading A Room of One Zone because it's like kind of a classic feminist sort of text, and it's pretty short and accessible. And so that also would potentially be a good one to start out with. So that's nonfiction, not fiction

@bookishpodcast Classics & The Testaments!

Shanaz, those are such great classics and both of those are still on my TBR. I would love Sharia, Dana Cronina and also the Count of Monte Cristo, although, I mean, I'd love of Russian literature, but I have heard that Anna gets a bit sleepy like, I know a lot of people who when they read it, they said it's a book where they kept falling asleep as they were reading it, but they were still happy to read it

@bowie

So Bowie, I'm about 125 ish pages in to The Secret History by Donna Tart. I'm also reading Addy Loose at the same time. So I'm reading like these two giant books at the same time, but I'm doing them both with Buddy Read. Just plugging away in both of them slowly. But yeah, I like it so far. I like her writing a lot. It's pretty wordy like it's a dense wordy book. I tried listening on audio read by the author

More rambles by me

That's where I'd heard of Donna Tart, the Goldfinch. I'm like, you guys mentioned Donna Tart, and I'm like, I know this person. Why do I know this person? I know. I read her book, haven't I? And then it's like, Ah, that, AHA, moment. Go golfing. Oh, my gosh. Yes. I read golfing. Yes. Okay. Grana Tar good. Yes. Okay. A good book. Okay

Rebecca adaptation & Sister Carrie!

Although I did just get Girl Woman other from the library ebook, so I may need to sneak back in first before it's due back at the library. So that's the other thing that's always funny about reading so many books is like juggling the books you have already or that you own or you buy the audiobooks and books you're borrowing from the library and trying to get those in time. I feel like I'm always doing this puzzle piece of it
