Writing Life | The Final Push

article image placeholdernotes
So hand driving has been amazing, but a bit slower, and I still have about two and a half more sections to write, and I need to finish it by the end of the day tomorrow. I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it slow. I know I can do it just feeling a little scared right now, but I wanted to check in because I'm really curious. Where are you with your process?

Where are you with your creative work at the end of this year?

I am at standstill with my creative work at the end of the year, except for one project which I'm waiting for January scary to happen so I can move forward with it and other people. But there is one thing I do every New Year's Day Eve, which is I write a list of everything I've accomplished the year before that writing will get done if I sound nasally

Good luck with your health and good luck with your goals, both of you and everyone involved in creative work, which I'm sure is most people. The last few weeks, I've settled into a really great habit with my friend Jane. We speak every Friday about our writing and where we're up to and we share whatever we've written and give each other feedback

Starting in the New Year! Finishing book for 2021!

I know this is about writing. I was looking for my goals and I didn't even realize that one of my goals for 2020 was to finish the first draft of my novel. I did not even realize that had been a goal. And as you know, I finished that at the end of October. And so my goal for 2021 is to actually finish the novel itself

@Shawn_Christy

Hey, Sean. I just wanted to say, I love that you look back at everything you accomplished the year before. I had a chance to finally do that. And often I find that more happened in the year. Then it's always easy to keep track of. And it's so nice to look back and just reflect on the things you plan to do that work out. The unexpected that happened the way projects took unexpected turns were better for

@AnnieH @bookishpodcast community ♥️

Thank you both so much for sharing a bit about your accountability partners and your writing community. It was just a reminder to me that, you know, we're not in this work alone, and even when it feels like it because writing can be such a solitary activity or at least feel like it. And I knew working on this next draft that I was really going to need support from my writing group, and it was so helpful sharing my goals for the year with them
