Through her writing, Mic Check 123 represents her earnest effort towards upskilling aspiring presenters and bridging the gap in the knowledge sharing within the industry, offering comprehensive guidance and actionable insights for those looking to make their mark in the world of communication and entertainment. Hi Kavea, welcome to my swellcast and congratulations on the book. To begin with, I'd like to know what was your seed of thought to write this book?
Kavea Chavali

Also, a lot of people say that, hey, you know what? One day I want to start speaking on stage. I want to get paid to speak. I want to become a moderator. But how do I do it? And that's when I took that how from the people and I realized maybe it's time for me to share a blueprint or maybe some answers as to how people can get paid to speak. And that's where the seed of thought actually began

So, being a debutant author, how has your journey of writing to publishing been like, what are the key takeaways? And how long did it take for you to pen this book?
Kavea Chavali
@KaveaRChavali · 1:44

@Book_gobbler

So for me to move from stage to writing, it did take me a little bit of a mind shift. So I had to battle that a bit for a couple of months before I realized, you know what, actually a storyteller first. So let's go ahead and publish. The entire publishing process was really smooth thanks to notion press, and they managed to put it up on Amazon. We are live on Amazon, India. Amazon UK, Canada

So I'm sure during the process of writing this book, you may have come across many hits and misses, challenges and surprises. I would love if you could walk us through the construction of the book. Chapter highlights and valuable insights that a reader can find in this book
Kavea Chavali

And that's why I think the biggest challenge, first challenge, of course, was how do I start? And as I'd mentioned earlier, my coach and also best selling author himself, Nitesh Gavde, he could come across as the person who could guide me into writing the book. And what he suggested is always pick, like, let's say seven chapters. Under seven chapters, there will be maybe five to seven sub chapters

So who, according to you, will benefit most from this book? And how and what can the readers expect from this book?
Kavea Chavali

And then I'm trying to wonder, how do I do it? This book actually answers all those who just want to get onto the stage and speak, and most importantly, get paid to speak

So, since you're talking about your career as an anchor and you're talking about the book. Mic check, one, two, three. It would be interesting to know how aspiring anchors can prepare themselves for a professional journey, because there are hardly any institutes offering a formal training

But third, most important, which I've also mentioned in my book, Siddhi, is the fact that don't say hi, I do this and I'd like to do this now. Tell me, how can I get a job? That's not the way. How you reach out to someone, whether the person is a senior or not. The best thing that you can do is learn from them. Find out. In fact, type showreels, MC showreels on YouTube

So, in your opinion, what's the key ingredient? Or what are the key ingredients that are quintessential to be an anchor?
Kavea Chavali
@KaveaRChavali · 1:16

@Book_gobbler

See, an anchor's duty is not just to talk and have the unlimited talk time ability just because he or she has a mic. It's also to respond to the responses that we receive from the audience. Let's say I am hosting a fireside chat with a prominent cricketer. Let's say I'm hosting it with, for example, Jonty Rhodes. When I, in fact, did that, I had a fireside chat with him

What are some of the challenges that you faced early on in your career, and how did you overcome them, and how have they helped you in navigating the world of literature and especially in making of your book?
Kavea Chavali
@KaveaRChavali · 2:08

@Book_gobbler

Now, of course, everything is regulated thanks to GST. In fact, GST has been a big boon for a lot of people who are in the world of freelancing, who are probably anchoring or working independently, because GST allowed us to charge our clients the money on time and also for the clients to pay you on time. So, yeah, that's been a big boon. But, yeah, this is how the industry was, and that truly became the crux of the book as well

My next question is a bit anecdotal, which are the three key events that you hosted would change your life or propelled your career to greater heights, and how
Kavea Chavali
@KaveaRChavali · 2:38

@Book_gobbler

I just started, and grabbing an opportunity like that allowed me to learn from the best. Allowed me to expose myself to some amazing, amazing opportunities. So that is one event. The second would be also doing a lot of shows for Procter and gamble PNG, you know, with their amazing product launches. This is where I actually got to interact with a lot of celebrities. Some amazing celebrities. I had a lot of fun on stage

Done work in television, stage, and now written a book, dabbling with various mediums and platforms. So which one makes you feel the rush and why?
Kavea Chavali

@Book_gobbler

It's been a while since I felt it. So, yeah, it was good. But I'll tell you what, it comes back to my first love, being on stage and hosting a live show for the audience

Be it anchoring or writing. What is that? One piece of advice that you would like to give to your audience and readers
Kavea Chavali
@KaveaRChavali · 1:49

@Book_gobbler

What is it that they're looking for? Even writing? Mic check 123 if you've read the book, Siddhi, then you would see that not about me. It's not my memoir. It's not about me. It's not about how I ace the stage. Yes, that might be a little part of it. Because I did manage to ace the stage. But I also managed to get ten guest speakers, some amazing names who contributed their thoughts around spotlight appearance, about everything
