Extrovert, Introvert or… Ambivert? Most people are a combo.

article image placeholderUploaded by @BobHutchins
What energizes you being at a party with lots of people that you can interact with? Or does that scenario zap your energy just by thinking about it? These are questions that are often used to determine if you're an extrovert or an introvert. And while these type of questions can be helpful to know your propensities and how to manage your own self care and recharge your own internal batteries, they can also be an oversimplification of the complex personalities that all of us have

I really did enjoy your post and found it very interesting. Period. For most of my life, I assumed I was an introvert come up, but seemed confused whenever I was so excited to be out amongst my friends helping them with different projects or doing different fundraisers. Period. Makes perfect sense that I'm an ambivert. Period. Thanks for sharing

But knowing myself, I knew that I had the ability to tap into both. I just wasn't given the freedom or the leeway to explore that and come up with my own model, come up with my own expression of that. Right. But I can tell you the way I live my life today

We all have our own unique DNA, we have our own life experiences, wiring, and we really are all a combination of nature and nurture, as well as a spectrum on so many of these things. And I think you hit the nail on the head when you said given the freedom. And that's really what I'm trying to do with this, because it meant so much to me when I realized I truly am an ambivert. And most people are. We're all on a spectrum

Wow. I am so an Amber. I've never heard of that word before. I don't think. If I have, I've just kind of, like, not paid attention. But I have always said I am both an extrovert and an introvert. More of an extrovert in that I'm a writer, I'm an actor, I'm very boisterous at what I have to say. I'm not shy

But then after a while, I have to realize when my social battery that's what I call it, my social battery is getting low so that I can recharge. And when I recharge, I'm by myself. I'm in my house, I'm in my space. But then if I'm in my space, in my house too long, I find myself wanting and longing for that social interaction, that social need. So I know that I'm on the spread from now

Oftentimes in the past, I literally come home from teaching several classes during the day, and I just want silence. Even now, I notice that when I prepare for dinner or when I'm doing something around the house, I really do like the silence. And then when I need to pick me up, I'll put on music and productive music or cleaning the house music
