BLKLIST PODCAST EP.13 THE TALK ABOUT IT TO JUST BE TALKING ABOUT IT PODCAST. WHAT ELES YOU DOING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, WHY NOT STAY TUNED / STAY FOCUSED

We have good things, we have great things, and that we have extremes, and that we have really bad things that are going on in the world. No matter where you are in your life or no matter what's going on in your life, mental health check ins are very important

But honey, there's so much bad, so much bad s*** going on right now and it has gone to h*** in a handbasket, to be honest, in my opinion, it's sometimes hard to see the good through all the bad. I think you're also right in saying that the wrong people are being sent out to these moments where someone is having a break in their mental health and these people aren't trained to react appropriately to these situations

Anthony, thank you so much for your clarity around this issue. And something you really touch on, which is so moving and so urgent in my mind is the disconnect between the amplification of this idea of mental wellness and the help people need to get. And you touch on that and I think it's really, um what makes the difference between an idea and an actual shift in cultural awareness and infrastructure changing?

#MentalHealth #TalkWithAnna

So when we think about mental health separate and apart from having a moment in crisis in which there's authorities dispatch, I want to talk about mental health first, and I want to acknowledge that having access to quality good mental health services is a privilege. Right. It is not as accessible as 1 may like to think. And I know there are things that are popping up, like better health than some other on demand mental health services that people can tap into

@TalkWithAnna

Does this happen all the time just because you have an episode? The pandemic one thing I've learned is that the pandemic has allowed us to go into a whole different realm, a whole different world and you could be mentally fine 1 minute and life stresses changes the whole direction to lose your life because of a mental illness and once again we get pieces. We don't get everything we get with the news or we get what the media wants to provide

@marklesserart

Everybody's situation is different. But one thing I do know that remains the same is the same stories. And then we say, oh, well, we're not there yet when it comes to mental health, but yet we now have electric cars on every single line that can cater to your mental health to make you feel happy. But yet there's a lack of education or there's a lack of knowing what to do in these particular times where people are in their house
@BLKLISTPODCAST

@DBPardes

There's plenty of this, the recent but I'm speaking on the ones that we've had, that we've lost even last year. The ones we've lost every year, every day people are dying due to dealing with mental health issues. Whether they self inflict harm on themselves or they're in situations like this where police are rendered
@BLKLISTPODCAST

@Renee_Slay

I completely understand, especially if they're not getting the help that they need. Everybody's not as accessible depending on where they live. Some people don't want to talk about it. Some people choose to have an episode and have a break. Whatever your reason is, we all got issues. I have mine. I'm sure you have yours. Issues don't necessarily mean bad, but issues mean there's things that are going on and we don't always go to the left

However, I'm still a good person, and no matter what situation I'm in, I should be able to walk away with my life if I'm having some kind of mental break or if I'm a thief, if I'm in somebody. I don't think we should take life. And it has been horrible against the black community. It is more highlighted now than ever, and I just want to fix it because it makes no sense to me

Oh, my goodness. I can't believe I just skipped right over the whole tranquilizer thing. To anybody that questions the humanity in tranquilizing, someone I would ask, is it better to just take their life like, their whole life is gone? Is that so much better of an option than to knock them the h*** out? Like, I don't understand. How is that not okay?

That person over there with the mental health diagnosis or issues or challenges versus we all are concerned about our mental health and need to care for it in a proactive or reactive or maintenance way. Very insightful for me. I'm a registered nurse and I learned very early on in my nursing education that caring for people who have a formal diagnosis was not my area of comfort

Hi. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on this with mental health. I am a licensed clinical psychologist, so mental health is ridiculously important to me as well, personally and for those that I serve in what I do. I don't know if I had heard of this particular person before, but I've heard so many cases like it it and I still remember seeing a clip on a show. It was something with Roland Martin years ago
@CrusaderWarrior

I’ll tell you what happens when they ‘get help’

What people don't understand, especially the teenagers, because at my old job there was a pediatric ward, the adolescent ward, and the adult ward, which is for everybody else. These people that are there are genuinely mentally insane. A lot of these people out here, like in America, think that, well, I'm having a mental episode because I'm really depressed. I'm telling you, you do not need to go to my old job

So, like I said, this person was definitely functional, had an issue, did not deserve to lose their life. And it happens all the time, and it's kind of redundant. So whether I speak to a person that's licensed in that area or not, when I hear about it, it's like the same thing happens. So what's the actual point? I don't know. It's just my thoughts. I think it's deeper than that

Many cannot identify when they are in a mental health crisis because what used to be extreme is now the norm…

Now, if you don't have a full time job and two side hustles, then you're not productive. People don't feel that they are. People are being judged as lazy when they're going to work, doing a nine to five and coming home. So that is what I believe is the core. And I appreciate you having that opinion and bringing up this issue
