Happy Birthday Audre Lorde

article image placeholderaudrelorde
One word is made. Once the renegade flesh was gone. Fall air lay against my face, sharp and blue as a needle. But the rain fell through October, and death lay a condemnation within my blood. The smell of your neck. In August, a fine gold wire bedueling war. All the rest lies elusive as a farmhouse on the other side of a Valley vanishing in the afternoon. Day three. Day four. Day ten, the 7th step, a veiled door leading to my golden anniversary

"The master’s tools will never dismantle the master’s house" -Audre Lorde

This quote is just so beautiful and I think it's so applicable to everything that I am really passionate about in the fight for equity and the fight for justice. And I just love Audrey Lord with my whole being. And I'm glad that that I could take a moment to reflect on her contributions to the world. And one of my favorite quotes. Thank you so much for sharing this. Bowie. It was lovely to hear her poem

"A Woman Speaks"

I do not mix love with pity nor hate with scorn. And if you would know me, look into the Ant trails of Uranus, where the restless oceans pound. I do not dwell within my birth, nor my divinities who am ageless and half grown and still seeking my sisters, witches and dahome wear me inside their coiled cloths as mother did. Morning. I have been woman for a long time. Beware my smile

@Izzy 🙏🏻

But it's a reminder to me of the fact that I have decisions, and part of my empowerment comes from my own choice to say yes or no to certain aspects of modern living. I know that's general, but I have a feeling you'll understand what I mean

@liora Beautiful

Leora, I absolutely loved hearing you read that poem. I'm sitting outside in the sun right now, and I just closed my eyes and listened to you read. And it was such a pleasure to get to sort of swim in Lord's words and hear it in your voice. That was really magical. Thank you
