The true value of a lottery ticket

Now, disclaimer, if you're one of those people who thinks you're actually going to win and you play religiously, you buy 100 tickets or you do something that's just not part of the word normal, then this doesn't apply to you. But this applies to everyone else. If, let's say, it's a 300 million dollar lottery after taxes, blah, blah, blah, you're going to end up with $150,000,000 just to play the game, okay?

Hey. I also think that once you identify all those things that you mentioned, you might have gifted yourself the chance to do something with those ideas that you might not have known you want to do. And you don't need a million dollars to do it. You could just say, you know what? I'm going to join a task force that's talking about the new baseball field

They'd circle back around again and ask is the lottery machine back up? And we'd be like no or yes or whatever. So seeing that made me sad because I could see where gambling, the addiction to gambling, has such a stronghold on people when it came to the lottery. Now with that being said, I am always happy for people who win the lottery because these are usually everyday, average people who can really use the money

And I think where I was going with this post was more of that opportunity cost, right? If you're just one of those folks, that when the lottery gets to this insane amount, 300, 500 million, if you get to that point and you spend your $2, that's where that fantasizing comes in. And those are the folks who, chances are, already have a great life, a great income, and they're not a regular gambler like me. I'm a sports gambler

In general the lottery is a tax on the poor and the stupid

I'm a bit of a cynic when it comes to the lottery. I believe I don't remember who originally said it, but you have the same chances of winning the lottery if you play or don't. And I don't know if there's ever been an example in history where winning the lottery has done people that win the lottery much, if any good, it brings them a lot of trouble. Not because of cursed, it's just they're not good with money

The House always wins

That's why it's like most casinos are on the Indian reservation because that's the only thing we're like. Well, we'll let them have it. Yeah, I don't know why that is. Tax free money is the only way they but it's crazy what they're able to do and to manipulate people into playing their game. And one thing you'll notice is there's a lot of money involved
