How to create a powerful LinkedIn profile in 2023

article image placeholderUploaded by @Binati_Sheth
So an email I got today, not so surprisingly, said how moving forward LinkedIn is now going to focus on your connections. That is your LinkedIn network more than like the network outside, right? So unlike a for you page or an Explorer page or things of that sort, LinkedIn will mostly focus on the page that you select, which is people you choose to follow and connect with and network with

And the basis for this is I've been a people manager since 2004 in across North America, APAC, India, little bit of EMEA and Middle East. So pretty much covering a lot of the geography. And I have hired at all levels, campus high programs, entry level careers, mid level careers and senior careers as well. And you are talking in absolute numbers. Close to at least interviews must have been close to five, 7000 if not more

It's a networking platform which also has a job requirement side. But in India clearly the metrics are slightly skewed and so it is used mostly for that purpose. So in fact, this session, what it did, it made me think that it's not the first time. And if you go back into bus talk season three, season two, I've had episodes addressing LinkedIn misconceptions. And guess what? I'm going to do one on Friday

For instance, they tell people in their communities to use their pronoun option to brand themselves, right? So instead of stating the pronoun, they'll have people select custom and then type in something like LinkedIn Expert or Personal Branding Coach or stuff of that sort. And genuinely, I think it's abhorrent to use inclusivity features to do stuff of this sort. Similarly, the point you noted, right, which is changing your location to falsify information, because technically that is what it is, falsification of information

One is the profile that is up right now and another one is copy pasted onto is copied onto notion. So when I'm looking to get hired, my full profile changes. I'm going to add a lot of more, I would say, skill based information there. I'm going to attach all the publications I've worked with, things of that sort. Full profile becomes very fancy

3 essentials: 1. Priorities 2. Content-market fit 3. Aesthetics

There's two Swell casts right below my original Swell cast and you can hear ayan's critique which I think is 100% accurate. What ended up happening is it presented very creators specific view of a platform that is not exactly 100% a creator specific platform. Most of LinkedIn is full of professionals who have value proposition, who have skills, who have qualifications and who have professional priorities that are not alou lelo kambaloing on LinkedIn. So there you go

So I'm in the publishing industry stuffy and constipated face it is no, I am smiling a full teeth smile in my profile photo and genuinely it has not ruined any of my professional prospects as far as I know, I have the same headshots of profile photos everywhere. As far as text goes, the description of your profile summary, focus on the problem you are solving. This I definitely agree with. Find a pain point that you can solve for people within your industry and highlight it

@Binati_Sheth - content vs packaging #bastalk

The other thing I wanted to say is when you do share the link, instead of using Ionisms, you might want to use Bastalk, this one, because that has all the LinkedIn commentary and the event and everything. So just a quick update there. Thanks
