How do you break the cycle of poverty mindset?

article image placeholderUploaded by @Bendi_G
I can be here to inspire, to motivate, to coach, to open doors for him in a way that nobody else would have been able to have done that for him before. And while these are his dreams, these are his aspirations, these are the things he wants to do. What I'm finding very difficult to penetrate is the cycle of poverty that he lives in, which impacts on his mindset. It is so very difficult for him to plan anything

So many Indians live in poverty. Very few are able to break the cycle & escape the mentality that prevents them from achieveing their goals. Have you?

It's a nice life but I hope for something else and yeah, I'm working towards that. There should be a plan, I have a plan and hopefully in some years I'll be able to achieve it and maybe then I can just get back to this well and reply to the switch as well so that your brother and your people just listening to it can get inspired. But thank you so much. It was really, really amazing to listen to this. Very inspirational, amazing words

And to train yourself out of thinking like that is almost impossible, I think, but not impossible. And I'm just wondering to throw the question back at you, did you have to train yourself to be able to plan? I don't know what background you're from, but I know you live in India, right? Do you understand the mindset that I'm talking about?

And when I lived in Mumbai, mother cook who used to come home, right? I had a cook, and she had two daughters who were so good in their studies that every home that she would go to cook meals, each home had something to contribute towards their education, towards their well being. And today, both of them are well placed. One of them is working in a bank, right? The other is also working in some corporate, doing very well

And that's a very young, naive age. If I look back at my life five years ago, when I was 21, I was in college, and the only thing that I wanted in life is to impress girls. That's it. That's the only thing that I have. Wake up in the morning, dress up well, go to the college, try to impress girl. But five years later, I don't even think about that. That's the least of my priorities

All he can focus on is talking to this guy, messaging this girl, texting this girl, being with this girl. That's all he and she do. And it's just such a distraction getting better because he is managing to focus more because of my guidance. And I am able to do some things with him and he is beginning to understand. So we're getting there. It's just step by step

But we can all influence within our spheres of influence, however small those spheres are. We all have the ability to change the world for somebody or change somebody's world that they live in. There's one big world that we all live in called planet Earth, but we all inhabit our own worlds. And those things can be changed and influenced and made better, sometimes made worse, unfortunately, and that is by the actions of people around you and we can impact on others
