I did not sleep well with you last night - a poem about a visiting love

article image placeholderUploaded by @BeaumouManatee
When you left to drive south I did not sleep well with you last night because my brain was buzzing contemplating the miracle of your long and bony form beside me your quiet breaths your smell which thankfully survived my borrowed body wash and shampoo mulling over everything we said and didn't everything that made you laugh as though you were a book I couldn't put down despite the hour an ebook with pearly script burning from a sleep defeating blue screen I saw you at the door

You captured it really well in these vignettes, especially because when that's how things are, when those are your circumstances, the sleeping part time is so precious, and so a night of poor sleep is so much more marked. It means a lot more. So I like that you use that to to tell this story. Thank you for sharing
