Carve the Mark by Veronica Roth

And then there's also some political intrigue, some rebellion that both of those characters who are the two main characters participate in. So the reason why I picked up this books is because I just finished reading the prequel to The Hunger Games, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, and it was so good or I got super into it. Anyways, I might even make a separate post about it. And after I was done reading it, I had that rare feeling of being a little bit lost and adrift

An ongoing book journal first post: intro, book summary, why I'm reading, overall thoughts, plot points that I'd like to see developed further

Things needing further explanation, likes/dislikes so far (continued)

He's like a cousin of him, and it's kind of unclear why he requested it. He says that the other members of his family, his siblings and his mother are in danger. And so I'm not sure whether the father is being violent to them or whether the father is being targeted due to his position or political views. It really hasn't been made clear. And hopefully as that plot shakes out, it'll be made a little bit more clear

Things I don't like so far (continued) and thoughts on the romance plot

I don't really care if it's there or not, which is kind of how I felt about The Hunger Games, but I still really liked The Hunger Games in the end. So I'll be curious to see where this goes. And as I continue to read, if I encounter anything extraordinary or worthy of comment, I will make subsequent posts in the same thread. If you've read this book or have any thoughts to add to my thoughts

Personally, I did read The Hunger Game Books, and actually the newest prequel for the Hunger Game books is on my agenda to read, like in the next week or so because I just revisited The Hunger Games and did a reread recently. So now I'm kind of like revved up to read the new book, the prequel. In my opinion, they're two completely different writers. Veronica Roth is not on the same level as the writer. Suzanne, what's your name?

And then also, in addition to seeing how the remaining rescue plot pan out, I am going to be curious to see what the fate of Akos sister CZ is, because I think that of all the siblings who are the main characters of the story, I think hers is the one that hasn't been revealed yet, so I have a feeling that that's going to be reserved for sometime closer to the end of the book. I'll chime in later with additional thoughts as I continue to read
