Just Duck It

Many speak about being vulnerable, sensitive and thoughtful. Or as calm and poised as critical traits of being a successful leader. Many speak about being this picture perfect image of a leader full of poise, calm and collected, yet vulnerable, sensitive and thoughtful. All critical traits of a successful leader. Isn't it? Not really. You're in for a big surprise

Hi. I really enjoyed listening to this pep talk. It was very poetic as well, if I may say so. Worth listening to. You like a coach egging on people. I hope your listeners appreciate that the advice here is obviously spot on as most of your advice, but in this particular case it reminded me of that famous line by Winston Churchill when you're going through h***, keep going

And I would chuckle and I would say I have my badge on, I can't answer that. But they realize, you know what? She has the same thing. She just has to present the message positively and rally the troops. But a lot of times she's sitting in these same meetings thinking whatever CEO our board has passed on, whatever decision that we now have to move forward with that she thinks it's BS to where it's stupid or it doesn't make sense

I feel the same way Arish does. It's such a great combination of wisdom and whimsical language, and memorable for me because, you know, when you have that image of just the duck and the legs, like, going nuts underneath the water, but the face of it, you're just trying to hold your own. My father was a physicist, and he always talked about momentum. And it's fascinating to really allow physics to be a teacher when it comes to pushing forward and pushing on

But I think it is important to understand that everything is in that moment and things are overflowing. Like Deborah said, right? There is no constant. Change is the only constant in life. And I think that sort of gives us some hope to keep moving forward and do our best. And when once someone succeeds, there is somebody else who fails. So that is also another important lesson that I have learned down the line

When you're going through h***, keep going. And I'll add to that mornings never show the day. How you begin the morning is not necessarily how you end the day. So keep rowing

Great insights. Great. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. JL I have often debated between ability and experience, and both of them are independent of age. There are instances where the teammates have a greater ability that are very young in age, and then there are instances where people have a ton of experience but have a very low ability. And so this mix and match often determines the balance of the team morale, balance of the team progress and productivity impact

And while we don't want to be extreme and we don't want to be balanced and mediumistic, what is the balance of that? And what do you call that? Just thinking

So essentially you're saying to all the Bschool guys there isn't a thing called winwin situation. Somebody has to win, somebody has to lose? Is that what you're saying?

There's definitely power in what Dori calls from finding Dory. Just keep swimming. Right? That's it. It's about just keep swimming. Just keep swimming. You're going to find what you are looking for even if you have amnesia at some point in time. So I will really liked listening to this and yeah, I'm going to keep going. Thank you so much for this reminder

Well, it's a matter of perspective. What you consider is success and what you consider is failure but for someone to get there on the top, there will be others who have acceded to the second or third position. So that's the whole joy of being there at the top because you are there and somebody else hasn't been able to make it. So in that sense, yes, but then again, it's a matter of perspective. Sometimes you get there, sometimes you don't
