And the right has gained a lot of traction in India since 2014. We have a very charismatic leader who is extremely popular. The problem is that with the right solidifying its position in the country, we have the rise of fringe right zealots and French right, not jobs. Zeluts are typically people who want you to adhere to their opinions of how the world should be. And that's the very serious and dangerous problem facing India right now. I don't know how many people are sensitized to this problem
They are silenced on social media by these zealots who happen to outnumber the intellectuals and liberals. And it's very saddening because social media is where everyone should have freedom of expression. And the term these sick people use for liberals is liberandus, which is an abusive word for liberals. And anybody who disagrees with these people is abused, is threatened, and it's a very dangerous precedent
I dream of an India which lives by values like liberty, freedom of expression, tolerance and respect. We have so many different subgroups, and I wish all the subgroups could coexist in harmony and peace, with love for each other, with liberty, with intellectualism, with liberalism. I don't know why the leaders on the right are not speaking up against the fringe right wingers. There was a very, very annoying woman who talked a lot of crap on TV today

If all of them stand up for all of the various causes that they believe in and actually resist this onslaught from the fringe right, I'm hopeful that this will reap some kind of results, which I think will hopefully help us keep them in check. And I think this is evidenced across the various state elections that we see. It hasn't been a clean sweep in the recent past, apart from Gujarat
This is high handedness that just because your people are in power, you can go to this extent. And I do not want to be associated with such absolute lunacy. So that's what gives me the fear or that's what gives me the scares. And I think this is a very good opportunity for the moderates and even the center to, if not the leftists, to really define clearly what they stand for and what they stand against
