‘80s Rewind - Chopping Mall

article image placeholderChopping Mall (Killbots) (1986) - Trailer HD 1080p
Let's not judge Ms. Moroni based on that shopping mall, also stars Tony O'Dell, who you may remember from the ABC sitcom Head of the Class, where he played the preppy guy Alan. That's actually a pretty accurate description. I mean, there wasn't much more to the character. And look, let's move on. Chopping Mall centers around a robotic security force that goes haywire late night at the mall while teenagers are using their places of employment to party

Oh! I may just watch this ...

I'm a little nervous, but I really appreciate the sort of the PS of the Wikipedia information about the casting couch, because maybe we need to see if he's around and then kind of get his true identity and find out what he's doing right now. Like, maybe he's a predator and we need to take him down. Or maybe he's gone. I don't know

🙀

I once had someone get a job at the pizza shop where I worked as a teen in order to court me, only to find out that he had a girlfriend yet still went to all the trouble to get a job where I worked to do the whole months of build up, whatever. Doesn't that sound kind of like an 80s teen romance or something?

80s top 5

Because I am curious if I've seen them already, and if there are any other ones that I should add to my watch list this weekend. My friend who's coming into town to take care of me. All we plan on doing is reading and watching movies. So ending recommendations here. I would really appreciate your perspective

@DBPardes @rachel

He was part of the whole Roger Corman universe of directors and writers and stuff like that, which kind of was in keeping, I think, with the over sexualized films. And I'm assuming over sexualized casting couches. So I don't know that he's out there doing any more damage. And it's amazing, though, that he just put that out on Front Street the way he did. Rachel. Yeah, that definitely sounds like it's got all the makings of an 80s teen film

Oh, and two other things I meant to mention, Deborah Blumhouse is remaking the thing, which should be pretty interesting because they did a great job with The Invisible Man. And Rachel think it was called Kilbots outside the United States. I think that's how that went. If I remember correctly, I don't think it was ever called Kilbots here because I kind of remember when it was in theaters and I remembered the name Chopping Mall. But I have seen posters that said Kill Bots

But what I think is disturbing is how much media I'm realizing I consumed as a teenager that pretty much set me up to continually be in relationships, particularly with men, where I had to explain that exact thing that you just broke down about how it was confusing to me, how somehow their bad behavior was always my fault. In some way, I'm happy that I'm old enough that I can laugh about it now
