Ain’t Hollywood Swell? - Nobody Puts A ‘Dirty Dancing’ Sequel In A Corner.

Anyway, they gave no plot details, but it's obviously going to need to take place decades after the original 1963 timeline, because Jennifer Gray is now 60. And we can also assume that the film will have Gray serving in some matriarchal capacity to possibly, like a granddaughter or something along those lines, who finds herself the object of a Patrick Swayze type character's affections. Because what would Hollywood be, if not predictable and lazy, right?

It was so awesome to immerse yourself into that culture and especially the music something Dirty Dancing did for me when I watched it in the 80s. Was it really spawned my love for oldies? In fact, oldies is one of my favorite kind of music these days. The duops and all of those and the opening Be My Baby by the Ronnet Still is one of my favorite songs, and Dirty Dancing was filled with those

Not a fan!

I don't even know why now and whatever. Anyway, so to answer your question about a Dirty Dancing remake, well, I think you know my answer. I'm not watching it. No, thank you. I loved your comment about how it's like, oh, she has a granddaughter who's probably going to deal with another Patrick Swayze like character. And because Hollywood is lazy classic, I love it. I love that line that you gave it's brilliant because it's so true

I agree with you, Shammi, in the sense of the music of the time. I love that time period, so I don't have a problem there. That was never my issue with the film. I just found the film to be incredibly mediocre storyline. It just wasn't compelling to me. But that said, depending on how they do it, not even depending on how at some point I will watch the sequel because I love films. I watch everything

And so when it was happening in the 80s, when it was like this phenomena that swept the nation, I was just at a loss. Now I didn't see it. I didn't see it in the theater. I saw it when it came home on VHS. And every girl that I knew bought the VHS because, oh, my God, you have to see Dirty Dancing. And. Oh, my God, no, I did not

Sign me up for the Freaks sequel

I don't think it got the run that it deserved on TV. It was only one season, a lot of unfinished stories. It just kind of abruptly ended. And there's a lot of things that could be told. I kind of want to see how each one of them grew up. I'd love to know where they are

The only other one that I can say really works for me is Cobra Kai. If you haven't seen it. And if you are a fan of The Karate Kid, what they did in that first season of Cobra Kai was just pure magic. It was something I never would have anticipated. I actually began watching the show the night that it dropped in a oh, boy, let's see what they did here. What kind of an atrocity am I about to witness?

Funny how I was the only one who seemed to have somewhat enjoyed Dirty Dancing here. But after listening to what all of you had to say, I think you're right. I never really looked at Dirty Dancing much for the characters or the plotline. It was a music that really did it for me. I really loved that era of music and also the other songs that it introduced to it. I had the time of my life or Hungry Eyes

So no, I will be one of those who will not watch the sequel and will be very proud to say, I don't plan to watch the sequel. And I'll be the antagonist of everyone, one who's watched the sequel and be the obnoxious person rebel without a cause, basically, and say, Haha, I didn't watch it. I saved time, but that's going to be me. All right

It always got preempted over some other sports game or something that would be going on, and it would preempt it, and then they wouldn't run it again. So I really had to wait for the DVD to come out in order to watch all other episodes. And there was a lot that I missed. So it really never got any respect while I was on air, which is just strange, because NBC really had they had a great one there

This response is to Shammi. I was just listening to where you were talking about growing up in Dubai and your impression of the United States. That wasn't wrong. Dirty Dancing was a very huge film. It's songs, the songs you mentioned. She's Like The Wind. And I had the time of my life and All That Hungry Eyes. These were all hits on the radio. It was a huge thing. And so you weren't wrong to be under that impression

So I did look up John Lander and found that he had quite a career as a DJ. Now that you mentioned about Patrick Swayze, and she's like The Wind. That reminded me one of the things that a John Lander used to do in that show hit Music USA was pick on some songs and create parodies. And it was hilarious as h***. And the one that got me cracking the most went like this. She passes Wind next to me, and it went on

I would pay good, good money to watch a Freaks and Geeks reunion. The episode where James Franco tries to be a Punk is still one of my favorite episodes of of television of all time. Also, Average Joe. I got really excited about Cobra Kai, and it isn't available to me yet, so I don't know who you're paying, but what the h***? Why isn't this on my Netflix

@rachel

For Rachel Cobra Kai, season one and two are, I believe, coming to Netflix in September. I think if you search it, you'll see, like a placeholder pop up for it or something like that, but you can't to play anything yet. So last I remember reading they dropped in September and then season three, which should have already been out on YouTube, red and didn't show up. And that's where the story broke, that it had all been sold to Netflix

#DirtyDancing @AverageJoe

And Joe Randy here just commenting on your topic here about remaking Dirty Dancing what I consider cult classic it's. I believe what made both Jennifer Gray and Patrick waisey household names. Although I did have an opportunity to work with Patrick Ways back in the day when we were doing a movie Young Buddy here in Toronto, but yeah, I really look forward to seeing a remake of this movie and seeing what role Jennifer would play in it. The music was awesome. The whole storyline was a good one

Hey, Randy, just to clarify, it's not a it's not a remake. It's it's going to be a sequel to the story. So Jennifer Gray, according to the press release, will be resuming her role as Baby Be. I guess like I was saying, maybe in the 80s, they have to fast forward. It would take them into the 90s, but we'll see what they do with it. And yeah, I remember Young Blood

Hey, Joe. Yes. In the movie Young Bella did. It was Patrick Waze, Roblox and Cynthia Gibb. Great hockey movie, great. Interact with the mother here in Toronto and see their future success. And see Rob Lowe is doing pretty good in his new TV show or Lone Star Nine. One one. I think it bring back a lot of memories and a sequel for the movie. That would be okay. So I'm looking forward to that. Thanks for sharing
