Podcast Recommendation - Bad Bad Thing

article image placeholderPodcastOne: Bad Bad Thing
And while the same set of circumstances has happened to many people every single day in America, this is what it looks like when someone cannot move on, cannot get past it and feels that there is nothing left for them in life again, it's a very compelling podcast. I'll put the link here to podcast one's page, but you don't have to listen on podcast one. You can listen on whatever preferred app you use. I'm not here to tell you what to do

You know, sometimes I really need to slow down and read a bit more. I thought you were sharing a Periphery song, and I was, like, cool. And I realized that that's not what you were sharing, but you are sharing something that is arguably just as interesting to me. So thanks for sharing this. I love podcasts and documentaries that have audio and video footage, like, lots of it

Oh, boy. Joe, what have you gotten me into? I'm like, I'm a minute and 39 seconds into episode one, and I feel very creeped out. Think that's kind of why I like these things. Honestly, I like the uneasiness of it sort of like the same way I feel about haunted houses or just horror movies in general. But there's something in the air and it seeps its way into your pores and just sort of infect your whole body

There's a little more detail given as we journey down the path. But she the victim was running for public office here. This was a big deal, but I had no idea the detail of this case how far the wife was going, and it gets crazier the s*** that she was trying to do

But, yeah, this was a lot, man. I enjoyed the listening experience. I'm enjoying the listening experience, but it's very deeply personal story. A very dark one at that point

I'm responding, assuming that by the time you come back to this, you will have heard that final episode that's been released. So first, I want to say I agree with you that Jennaire was clearly mentally unwell, and but I don't know that it was so much dormant as this personality type that she seemed to be

At that point, I felt like in a weird way, it almost made it be like here's a woman who didn't allow an injustice to just happen to her, and everybody got away with it. And I don't know that that's a great kind of narrative to have. But again, maybe it's just my feeling. I mean, it certainly didn't suggest the entire time there was nothing wrong with you there

I mean, this is some next level stuff. Still doesn't make generic any less crazy. You don't. You just move on, you move on. You know what I mean? Like we've all been there. You move on, and then you look back and go, what was I so wound up about that Jaguar for? But she didn't want to do that, I guess

And then when you pair that with some of the writings that she left behind and audio tapes, that was an unhinged woman. And look, I want to say that I understand why she went crazy because she was being put through a lot. And your next comment about how the relationship had apparently been going on long before. Mark initially says that would sort of add fuel to that fire, I think

I might say something like that. Ultimately, no one in here was a good person. I don't think from everything we're hearing, some worse than others, obviously. But it will be interesting to see how they wrap all of this up tomorrow

Hey there. So I'm driving down the road, and I noticed the 6th episode, and probably the final episode is available now for your listening. Well, in this case, displeasure. But so there I made, like, a public service announcement or something

And the more that I hear the friends talk about the whole relationship, they say that they never thought that generic could have done something like this. But then there are moments where it's pretty obvious that they don't like her and want to do more, but they don't. I don't know

But I think this is a really, really good example of why it's important to develop self reflective skills, go to therapy, do whatever you need to do to not be in such unhealthy and terrible dynamics like this. I also think the banana thing was so symbolic of just like, culturally, the stupidity we learn around what love is and isn't the biggest thing you can think of about why you have a connection with someone is that you both like bananas

And if we go by what I've heard through the grapevine here that this actually was going on way longer than he's telling people, which I think is part of why he carries even more guilt with him because he's still lying to know that you were torturing this woman for that long, right?

And as a reminder to how fragile the human psyche can be. And I thought it was really interesting that we've learned about what happened. Like essentially, no one wanted to publish Mark's book, which shocker. I'm sorry, I just found that part of the story to be sort of absurd, but also it was, I guess, cool to hear that they did fact check the whole thing about him donating the proceeds of his book and stuff and that he wasn't lying about that

I just kind of dismissed her and moved on. The reason is I have seen firsthand what mentally ill people are capable of doing. And if you're someone as an adult and you're encouraging that I want nothing to do with you, I have no time for you. And again, this is what you were saying. People think it's not real. That's stuff I just read about on the news. It doesn't really happen

So I'm here at work on this Saturday. I'm in a big, empty place. So if it sounds echoey, that is why turns out this podcast is not over. There were was a bonus episode with Dr. Romney where they discuss the psychological aspects of all of what we just listened to. But more importantly, it turns out Mark Gerardo did not dig being called a narcissist by Dr. Romney

Whoa. Thank you for posting this update. I realized they didn't have alerts on for new episodes for this podcast because I thought it was over and it sounds weird and slightly perverse to say am looking forward to listening. Maybe. But I am so yeah, I'm really curious to hear what you and other people think about these bonus episodes for sure

You look at it because of Jennaire building her entire identity around being the wife of Mark Gerardo, and nothing more that she felt her world was ending and that there was really no way to end it. And Gerardo said that he was glad. She said that because he has said to friends that had there been no Meredith in the equation, that he thinks now he just would not be here right now that Janet would have probably killed him and killed herself or whatever. And I think that's probably accurate
