And that's why a lot of my writing always stems from my personal experiences. Because I think at the end of the day we all live in the same world and more often than not we end up experiencing very similar emotions like grief or fear or happiness in response to very similar events. And I think writing becomes a platform for me at least to connect to other people on these similar events and similar emotions

So how do I address the world? I think when we talk about ourselves, we are also in many ways talking about the world. We are addressing the world. So when I share of a particular incident that happens with me, I am essentially occupying space in this world. I am demanding that the world look at me, hear my story, and acknowledge my existence. I think this is especially important for me as a woman because for the longest time we weren't expected to occupy space

Writing blocks, I think, have plagued writers forever. But I personally do not believe in the concept of a creative block or a writing blog, because as I said before, writing is a very passionate experience. So you can only do something as artistic as writing when you're writing with passion

Writing inspirations. I think everyone or every book, every poem, everything I come across becomes a writing inspiration. But I think if I had to specifically pick out names, it would be Dr. Bird Ambedkar because I know for a fact how significantly my writing and my perception of life itself has changed ever since I started reading his work

Be passionate about what you write honestly. It's like making a baby. So now you have this kid who is your story or your article or whatever it is that you've written. Don't demean it in front of others. Don't bully it because that's never worked. Just give it love. Just be patient with it and trust it, because only then are you going to want to work on it more and more and make it the best possible version

Hi Anika. Thank you for sharing. And it was great to hear your voice after so many years as well. And I have a question for you. I like to think that I'm an aspiring writer myself, and I find it difficult to put myself out there into this void. I'm worried about judgment. I'm worried about being perceived as something that I'm not presenting. But inevitably, I writing is the act of putting yourself out there. So how do you get over that fear?
