Where did you get your laugh from?

article image placeholderUploaded by @FryedOreo
To get her to laugh at something is great because she has this very logical mind. So I have to be very particular in the jokes that I use, because if it doesn't make sense to her, she's just not going to laugh at it. Or she will type a lol, but with a question mark. She'll ask, what does this mean? And then you realize it was kind of dumb to begin with. But anyway, where did you get your laugh from?

And who’s been the most difficult person to get to laugh?

Oh, Dewuan, I love this so much. Thank you so much for sharing your memory. And this question is just epic. Thank you. And the person I loved to make laugh was also the person I got my laugh from. And my dad just and sublimely funny man, but not in a boisterous, crazy way, but in a very deeply sort of the ravine of his soul is just filled with joy and laughter, but you have to mine it a little bit

Thank you @DBPardes

You're able to share your gifts of laughters with others for a great cause. And, hey, maybe even once in a while around these swell parts, you can share a little laugh with us as well

Hey, Dewuan. You've given me a really good idea, which I'm going to do today, which is start a swell for an audio memorial for people we love, because I feel like I know Jerome so much now because of the way you we've talked about him and in speaking his name and telling the stories about your connection and who he was, it memorializes him in a very powerful way. It's beautiful

Lol, you’re dead serious! @DBPardes

Whereas I don't know how George Floyd fits into this conversation and how it's now a memorial of people that you've lost. That was not my intention, and I never thought George Floyd would be involved in a conversation about laughter. But I'm laughing. But I think you solidified your stance on seriousness. You literally just said you're more serious on here, and this is exactly what you meant. Is it the direction I would have took? No, I don't think so

But I can think of scenarios where it was just like a random something random to throw into maybe laughter, and it did end up working and the overall ability to do that and see that it's brought some laughter out of folks, maybe in a serious time. I think that I look fondly on that for sure. Thank you once again. This is a really great one

@singingsense Thank you for adding to this conversation!

But yeah, this had been on my mind for quite some time and I would notice, I would laugh like my friend and I wonder why it was bad. And I guess I thought about it for quite a bit of time and it was those memories I had with him and experiences that kind of translated into my laugh track, as it were. But you have really never found that you've emulated your laugh nor tried to make someone laugh. I wonder, do you make people laugh unintentionally?

Thank you @Musing_Matilda

I got a little taste of it when you were laughing a bit. So that was cool. That was neat. And your father, you've emulated some mannerisms from him, as one should. So that's perfectly well and good. And I thought that was interesting with you mentioning not so much trying to make a person laugh, but trying possibly to find humor in a situation where it could be deemed impossible for most

But I think there are a lot of really great actually. I can really only speak on like the Ugandan community and I'll say that in the area that I've grown up in. The DMV area. That's like the Ugandan community that I know. And I really do appreciate that it exists. That I've been able to be a part of it in all the different ways that I have been throughout my life so far

Ok i get you @Musing_Matilda

I'm pretty sure where you are, obviously, if it's a Ugandan populace community where you are, you must be thriving with community. Yeah. Especially in these times. To find something funny in itself can be a treasure hunt. But I also go out of my way to make people laugh, especially on my Instagram. That's kind of my thing. The humor is a bit darker, a bit more rose

Lol @SingingSense

I often kind of go about it in the same way, in which I don't have a set of jokes that work, but I have stories that I know that people find funny that I share often, to which I guess it is a joke that I have, but it's not like a knock knock, who's there? Sort of things. Nothing you could find on the Internet. It's something that I find through my personal experience

What a great question. You know, my first instinct was to say I didn't I don't have my laugh is really just mine. And I'm a very loud laugher and really boisterous because I laugh probably more than anyone I know, and I love that about me. But as I got to thinking about it, I realized that it is something I got from my father, and it's one of the things that holds him close in my heart

Cosmic Claudia. Cool name. And thank you so much for not only listening to the conversation, but also adding an audio response. And I'm happy that that you like this particular post and also that it resonates with you deeply. It was not something, honestly, I was expecting, but I'm glad I did not anticipate it. And I also loved that eureka moment. You had realized within yourself that indeed, you can find an inspiration to the way that you laugh

I owe my dad. My style of laughing out aloud and also my sense of humor both come from him. And the person I find most difficult to get to laugh is my husband. He doesn't crack up easily at all. Quite a challenge. Lovely post there. Thank you for this. Day one. Bye

Lol @Wordsmith

And maybe by some degree, whenever he did laugh, it was amazing because it didn't happen as often, or maybe not. Maybe he just was always kind of goofy. Who knows? Maybe you can say a little more about that. But as far as your husband tough crowd the guy you decide to spend the rest of your life with gets a little funky every now and then and don't want to laugh at your jokes

First of all, the wand. What a what an awesome question. But yeah. So in the in the picture, my mom is on the far left. She's the oldest of six of the girls anyway, with all her mental faculties. But I think growing up, my mom first off, my brother and I were mostly raised by a mother, and she did a h*** of a job

Johnny, thank you very much for not only taking the time to listen to this Swell, but to also offer an audio response. And it sounds like this question resonated with you in a profound way, as your mother was the one who had a very gregarious laugh and it was contagious. And I believe that is the missing element here, that contagious laugh
