Hello. Today, I want to introduce you to Kate Koala. She's a division one long distance runner for Kansas state University to start off. Kate, could you please tell me what the difference is between being a College runner and a high school runner? Can be in your workouts, in the team, in the traveling, anything that you feel is different

Just because they expect you to really just do well at the start means that we go to but, like, traveling schedule, we usually leave, like on a Thursday, and then we have a two day meet, and then we'll be back by Saturday. Day night

Thank you. Kate. I think people would be most interested to know about the competition. How does it feel to run in a collegiate meet? And what do you do to prepare for that pressure

I would say the competition is definitely more competitive. I mean, like you are competing at a D one, like collegiate level, so everyone is really good. As a freshman, there's not as much pressure on you to perform as well as like the upper class men just because I am new on the team. But there still is a lot of pressure because you want yourself to perform well and your coach wants you to perform well

@KateKowalik

Okay, thank you. That makes sense. As a freshman, do you have any big meat that you're looking forward to or any goals that you're trying to achieve before the end of the season? If so, what are they and how are you working towards them

For the indoor season. I'm really hoping that I can make it to the Big Twelve conference meet which is going to be a week from this Friday. But as a freshman that's just kind of up in the air

Okay. Well, good luck qualifying for that race. So now what would you say the hardest part about being a collegiate runner is especially at a D. One school. And also, could you tell me the best part? What makes you excited to be a runner

The hardest part I would say is just like the time commitment. I have practice every day and then I have weights like three times a week, so it adds up over time. And I would say the best part is I really just like the team aspect of it. Really fun just having people to run with and compete with
