Indofuturism/South Asian Futurisms: Imagining New Futures

article image placeholderUploaded by @Aishani
Although recently the term South Asian futurisms is being preferred by theorists, since that's more inclusive in nature, I think it's a beautiful way to reclaim our identity and dissociating it from Western influences. Anyway, I'm attaching the link to the article in the description box so you can check it out yourself in detail

I mean, it's interesting, but how AI is being advanced so quickly that one can simply visit the App, and they can just get their work done simply by communicating with that particular chatbot, which will have the avatar of the priest or the cleric or whatever. And same way if someone wants to get married. So it's interesting that the question lies is where will the role of common man stand in all of this progress?

And you can't tell one state from another, really, or one people from another. Now, that's not the case in India. India is a very diverse country with so many different traditions and so many different cultures. It's really a microcosm of multiple cultures. So as I've grown up, I've come to appreciate this diversity. And I don't want India to be like the west. I don't want it to be homogeneous with reference to religion or traditions or culture

Hi taha chand. You so much for sharing such an interesting take on South Asian futurism. And I think your ideas are, you know, they make a lot of sense. And this high probability that these can actually come true in maybe the next 50 years or 100 years, like you said. Also, yes, incorporating the needs of everyone is also an important aspect that needs to be looked at, because some people, like you said, are flexible, others are not

And the only way to do that is definitely whatever South Asian futurism, whatever this philosophy or this movement, whatever we want to call it, is doing, imagining a future that includes and involves the true roots, the true heritage of India or South Asia. I mean, it's important to preserve the true essence of South Asia
