#AskALocal Kolkata: So Much More Awaits You Than The Howrah Bridge and The Victoria Memorial

article image placeholderUploaded by @Aishani
Being born and brought up in Kolkata. I have known my city for a bit over two decades. And over all these years I have shared so much. I have shared so many memories, so many special moments. My childhood with the city. And I have explored Kolkata extensively. Yet I still feel like I haven't seen it all. I haven't experienced it all. Because there's so much to experience, so much to explore

I really like the football culture, eden Garden, everything. And since you said that you have visited extensively, I would like to offer you when you come to Eco Park, do drop me a message. I can meet and we can talk something about the swell. I think that you are from Swell team. Anything we can talk. All right. Thank you

And of course, Deeden Gardens and I think people in Kolkata are generally very much into sports, especially cricket and football. I have so many football fantasy in my own family, so I know how it is. And yeah, apart from that, the Eden Gardens and the Madan area, that's something really close to my heart. I don't get to visit those areas much because that's pretty far from my place

We are not too big on museums or libraries or open parks or things like those, but food and shopping are definitely we are not even very big on nightlife. Even nightlife is not very big in Indian cities. So we are definitely big on food and shopping. And by shopping, I mean bargain shopping. So if you come to gorgao, I can tell you what are the places to have the best food, what are the places you should avoid, where could you go for shopping?

So that's something I really admire, actually, about Kolkata, that such places still do exist. And of course, we have museums and libraries, but museums have open museums. You need to probably pay something. Although the amount is pretty negligible, it's not a lot. It's just like some token money they take for entry now. Well, I haven't been to the museum for quite a long time

And you can drive up to it, you can sit beside it, maybe have a couple of chill beers. But again, it's not been developed into a spot of leisure. That character is missing. If you think about all the famous western cities or Australian cities sydney, Melbourne water is such an integral part of these cities. I mean, when you think about San Francisco or La or New York or Toronto or Sydney or Melbourne, I mean, their waterfronts are so beautiful

Yes, I completely agree with your point that water bodies do bring some sort of respite, and surrounding those water bodies, there can be made places which are meant just for leisure. So, yeah, that definitely makes a lot of sense. And I guess that's something that needs to be encouraged in Delhi as well. Yes
