Boycott Starbucks? What’s Actually Going On? What do you guys think about this ad?
Boycott Starbucks. What's actually going on? Did you check out the recent Starbucks ad where people are getting very furious and boycott Starbucks is actually trending on Twitter? Let me tell you what's going on. So basically, the ad starts with a man calling his son named Arpeth at Starbucks. A few seconds later, a girl comes and sit next to the parents. Then the ad reveals the the father was actually meeting and accepting his transgender daughter. Now here comes the most controversial part of this ad

I think a lot of moral outrage stems from a place of supremacy and it stems from a place of what I could categorize as lack of empathy. Right. And from an advertising perspective, brands are definitely leaning in on the values because people respond more to values and morals than statistics and then actual creative advertising

We're about examining the implications behind this. I'm living in the States here. I'm living in Los Angeles. I think that was very brave of the local Starbucks advertising team. Brave is a small B, not a big b, because to represent the diversity of a community is its obligation as a good marketing team. And I think that we're really looking at the power of this conversation at a systemic rate. People are really talking about this

What we made, society is made by us. Discrimination, color, sex, gender are all the part of the society which we have built over a period of time. I think now we should understand in this 21st century, that we all are human beings, be it a lady, a man, a transgender, a kid. We should understand each other, we should help each other, and we should go hand in hand, and that only we will be able to make a beautiful world

Hey Abhishek. This is one thought provoking swell that I chanced upon and glad I did. To begin with, I haven't watched this ad yet. In fact, I haven't watched TV in years, I guess. But going by what you just said, I think the ad is indeed about acceptance. And if the sentiments are truly understood, the essence here is good parenting, acceptance and humanity
